Fitbit has a unique set of notification profiles that use vibrations as the main delivery medium.

Other than that, there can be numerous problems that can cause you to vibrate your Fitbit without a notification.

The Fitbit device can vibrate to alert you at different times, such as when you set an alarm, reach your step goal, or fail to meet your hourly activity goal.

If your Fitbit device keeps vibrating at random times, you can take these 3 approaches to solve this problem.

Solution 1 : Restart the device

Plenty of times this problem gets solved by simply restarting the device, and other times it doesn’t.

restart your fitbit device

Therefore, if your device stops vibrating after a reset, then yes it’s that easy. If it doesn’t, then no it’s not that easy.

So let’s get ready to walk through the step-by-step process for restarting the Fitbit device.

Step 1: Press and hold the power button of the device.

Step 2: Once the screen turns black, probably within a few seconds, let go.

Step 3: Wait for a few seconds and then again press and hold the power button until the device restarts.

Repeat this process at least a few times, before giving up. If it still doesn’t work, then try the next one.

Solution 2: Use a charging cable

Step 1: Take out the charging cable and connect it to your device.

Step 2: When the device is connected to the cable, press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds.

Step 3: The device will show two vibrations. First, a short vibration. Then, a medium vibration. Then the device will turn off.

Step 4: Now, turn the device back on. In the starting process, the number of short vibrations that can occur can be as high as 7.

Step 5: Remove the device from the charging cable and turn it off again.

Step 6: Plug it into the charging cable again, and turn it on.

Solution 3: charging cable and USB port-based technique

Step 1: Take out the charging cable and plug it into the USB port on the computer.

Step 2: Connect the other end of the charging cable to the back of the Fitbit device.

Step 3: See if the button of the Fitbit device is aligned with the button on the opening of the charging cable. If it’s not, then align it. The indication that it is aligned properly is you’ll see a battery icon on your device’s screen and the device will vibrate.

Step 4: Press and hold the power button for 8 seconds.

Step 5: Unplug the tracker from the charging cable.

While we do not know the exact cause behind this one, we know there is a solution. Actually, there isn’t just one solution but there are actually 2 solutions that we’re aware of.

We’re going to mention both of them in this section. First, you should try a normal restart. If it doesn’t work out, then you should try a long restart.

Normal Restart: Turn off the Fitbit device and let it sit there for a few seconds, before turning it back on. You may find success the first time, but if you don’t give up hope just yet.

You should turn the device off again and then wait for a few seconds before turning it on. You should perform this step at least 5 times before giving up.

Long Restart: What’s a long restart? It’s a good question. Like the name suggests the Long Restart is a way of restarting your Fitbit device but it involves more steps, thus it takes longer than usual restart.

Alright, now that you know what a long restart is, here is how you can do it.

Step 1: Grab the charging cable and plug your device into it.

Step 2: Once the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the power button of the device for 15 seconds. It’s important to note that when you let go, around 15 seconds, the device shouldn’t have a smiley face but a black screen instead.

Step 3: Once the smiley face has gone away and you’re only seeing a black screen and you’ve let go of the button, remove the Fitbit device from the charging cable.

Step 4: This is the last step. After unplugging the charging cable, let the device stay there for a few seconds. You should wait for at least 10 seconds. Then, plug the cable back on.

Why does my Fitbit vibrate when I run?

Alright, so you should try a Long Restart first by following the steps we’ve mentioned in the previous section. If that works, awesome. If it doesn’t, there is no need to worry because here is what you can do.

Step 2: Find the option called Battery Panel. Once you’ve found it, tap on it.

Step 3: Now, you’ll see an option called Low Battery Mode. Tap on it and see whether the slider is turned on or off. If the slider is off, awesome. If it isn’t, then turn it off.

Alright, they don’t have the exact same solution but they do have similar solutions. For the exercise problem, apply all three solutions. From the walk and run sections.
