I saw pranksters doing the Apple Pay Prank using an Actual Apple. It was a nice one, as those employees in shops never saw it coming.
I saw this was the first time a person targeted shop owners through a meaningful prank.
Unlike the common pranks that hurt people physically and mentally, this is a new way to enjoy life. Also, I felt that there was a deep meaning in this Apple Pay Prank.
That is why I thought of doing deep research and sharing everything about Apple Prank.
How To Do Apple Pay Prank?
I did a lot of research and found there are three main ways to do this Prank. The first method doesn’t involve any Apple Pay option.
Also, in the second prank type, the pranksters used Apple Pay along with Apple fruit.
In a third way, it is almost like a scam and the prankster sends a generated screenshot to friends. I found it was a bit nuisance to friends as well.
Note: If you want to do this Prank, I suggest you use the second method.
1. How to Do Apple Pay Prank Without an Apple Watch
I found that doing this Apple Pay Prank is quite easy. What the prankster has to do is to go into a shop and then purchase an item.
Even if it is necessary to do it more seriously to the seller, the prankster may purchase a few items.
The prankster says that he/she doesn’t have any cash.
Also, they ask if the employee at the counter accepts Apple Pay as the payment option.
I observed that all the pranksters had been careful to step into the stores where “Apple Pay” is also accepted.
Therefore the employee says, “Yes, of course.”
After confirming that the stores accept “Apple Cash,” the prankster gives an Apple or few and move outside.
Then all of a sudden, things get hilarious as there is nothing wrong with both parties.
The seller is looking forward to “Apple Pay” while the prankster has given Apple fruit.
I also saw that the pranksters went outside and walked away from the shop. It was a harsh experience for the employee at the counter.
2. How to do Apple Pay Prank with An Apple Watch?
I found out that this is the hilarious one and the perfect one. No one can blame the prankster. You may follow the steps to do it perfectly.
What you need: Apple Watch, An Apple fruit
Note: You must wear a long sleeve shirt or t-shirt to hide the watch under your sleeve.
The best way to enjoy this Prank is to record it. It will be better if you have someone who records from a distance.
First, you must know if the shop accepts Apple Pay
I am posting a method to find a shop that accepts Apple Pay as one of their payments.
- Open Map on your Apple device (Apple iPhone, Mac, or iPad)
- Open the search tab and Locate where you want to do this Prank. Also, you may scroll down to see the location.
- You will see some destinations and then Tap on the destination. This will list some information like Website, Call, and Directions.
- Scroll down and get the “Good to Know” section.
- You will see the Apple Pay symbol if they accept Apple pay
Note: I saw that Walmart is the most interesting store for most pranksters who wanted this Prank. But Walmart doesn’t Accept Apple Pay which means you can’t try this Prank.
Add A Debit / Credit Card to Your Apple Watch
- You must add a debit or a credit card to the Wallet App
- Keep the Apple Watch and the Apple iPhone closer
- Open the Apple iPhone App of, the Apple iPhone
- Scroll down and find Wallet and Apple Pay
Note: If you have already activated Apple cash already, the feature will be available for your Apple Watch too.
- Tap on “Add Card” and follow the simple instruction to add the new card to the Apple iPhone. After the card adding is finished, you will see a Check mark on the iPhone. Also, you will see a notification and a beep on the Apple iPhone.
Note: If you want to add the Apple Watch to a previously added card, you must tap “Add” next to that card. Then it will be added automatically to the Apple Watch.
Now you have set the first added Credit / Debi card as the default payment card on the watch.
Preparing The Apple Watch for The Prank
- When you are about to make a purchase, you must prepare your Apple Watch for this
- Double-click the side button of the Apple Watch. It will open the default Payment Card
Doing the Apple Pay Prank
- First, cover the Apple Watch using the sleeves of your shirt. I saw that every prankster was wearing the Apple watch closer to the palm. They could make the pranks natural as the watch was close to the Apple.
- Next, disable the notifications on your Apple watch.
- Tap and hold the bottom of the Apple Watch screen
- Wait until the Control Center and swipe up
- Tap On the silent Mode Button
I found this article from the Official Apple Website that explains several ways to silence your Apple Watch.
- Enter the Shop
- You must pick up some goods to check out at the counter. I found out that the minimum amount you may pay using Apple Pay is $1, and the maximum amount is $2,000.
- Go to the counter and ask, “Do you accept Apple Cash.”
- Hold the Apple Watch right on the Contactless Reader. You must hold the Apple Fruit at this moment and pretend that the Apple fruit is making the payment.
Note: To make this prank natural, you must say something catchy to the employee. ‘I am trying this for the first time”, ‘Hope this will work as this is my birthday,” ‘Wow, Technology.” or something like that will increase the intensity.
Finally, the employee will see that the transaction has been made successfully.
I saw their reactions several times, and all of the employees were surprised.
Also, employees rechecked their Contactless Reader messages and the accounts to confirm if the payment was real.
Give a final impression and exit the shop!
Note: As I discovered, the best way to give the impression is to gift the Apple Fruit to the employee and leave the shop.
3. How To Do Apple Pay Prank Using Apple iPhone?
As I discovered, the best way to do the Apple pay prank is to use the Apple Watch. But, if you don’t have an Apple Watch, you may use an Apple iPhone.
- Add a credit/debit card to the Apple iPhone
- Put Your apple iPhone on the silent mode
- Attach the iPhone to your hand using tape and hide it using the sleeves of the shirt (You must attach the iPhone to the bottom side of the hand. Also, the notch should be closer to the palm)
- Double Click the side Button
- Enter the passcode or glance at the screen to use the Face ID
- Hold the Apple fruit and enter the shop
- Now follow the instructions that I have explained before
Where else to do the Apple Pay Prank?
I found that the Apple Pay Prank is possible for any place where businesses accept Apple Pay.
It means not only for Retail Stores but for restaurants, Gas stations, Banks, fast food delivery employees, entertainment businesses, and home-visiting services, you can do the Apple Pay Prank.
Note: We recommend you not to the Apple Pay Prank at banks as they may be suspicious of you. But you are not doing anything illegal. You may have to spend a couple of minutes until they figure out how you did it.
How to do Apple Pay Prank with Apple Pay Image Generator?
In my little research, I found a method that creates trouble for people who use Apple Pay.
Pranksters use a fake Apple Pay Screenshot that includes the transaction details.
For example, the payment details to $50, $100, $150, and any value can be included in this method.
Also, the receipt will include the name, the recipient’s name, date, and time.
Unlike the previous methods, this method involves deceiving and cheating to some extent. I discovered scams and similar scenarios that happened with this prank.
Note: I found out that people use this fake Apple Pay screenshot to show off. Since there is a part on the receipt where the account balance is displayed, the prankster can add a huge amount and deceive the receiver.
As I found out, this is how the prankster does this
- Generate a screenshot of the payment using an Apple Pay Image generator or a store
Note: Fake Receipt, Custom Receipt Maker, Fake Payment Screenshot Maker, Fake Pay, and PDF Filler are some generators.
- Sending the screenshot to a person you want and claim that you forward some money amount
- Force the receiver to refund the amount.

Assume You Will Be Pranked.
Being Unexpected is always the reason why others prank you. As a retail shop owner or an employee who has to work with Apple Pay, you must know the range of pranks.
Identify Those Who May Prank You
If someone is about to do the Apple Pay Prank on you using the watch or the iPhone, they must wear a long sleeve shirt. You must use that as a sign.
Ignore Them
Even if the payment is made using an Apple or any other fruit, you have what you need. Don’t motivate the pranksters by expressing your excitement.
Call Police
Apple Pay is a world-recognized and legally-accepted payment method. If you mean Apple Pay, it doesn’t mean you need an Apple as the payment but Apple Cash. If someone leaves the retail shop, don’t chase them. Just let them know that you would go to the police for assistance.
If Someone Has Transferred You Money, Go Through a Verification From The Bank
If someone claims that they have transferred your money and have some evidence, call the bank for assistance. Also, you may verify the alerts regarding the transactions.
Note: Please don’t share your private information with third parties at any cost. You may ask for the transaction number from the payee and inquire about the bank.

As I felt the Apple Pay Prank describes how people have been trapped in marketing. The Apple Company has been able to forget the real meaning of a word using one of its services. This prank reminds people of that sad truth.
Also, I felt that Apple Company has been able to imply to people how technically sounding they are. Even if Apple says that they have the technology to use Apple fruits as a payment method, people will get it.
