Here are the steps on how to grant drop-in permission on an Echo Show.

  1. Open the Alexa app on your phone or tablet. I’m assuming you already have the Alexa app installed on your device. If not, you can download it from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Select Devices at the bottom of the screen. I’m the one who’s going to be granting the drop-in permission, so I’ll be the one opening the Alexa app and navigating to the Devices section.
  3. Select Echo & Alexa. This is where I’ll see all of my Echo devices, including the Echo Show that I want to grant drop-in permission to.
  4. Select your Echo Show device. I’m going to select the Echo Show that I want to grant drop-in permission to.
  5. Scroll down and select Communications. This is where I’ll find the settings for drop-in.
  6. Select Drop In. This is where I can enable or disable drop-in for my Echo Show.
  7. Toggle on the Allow Drop In switch. This is the switch that I need to toggle on in order to grant drop-in permission for my Echo Show.

That’s it! I’ve now granted drop-in permission for my Echo Show. Anyone who has the Alexa app and is registered to the same Amazon account as me will be able to drop in on my Echo Show.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind about drop-in:

  • You can only drop in on devices that are registered to the same Amazon account. This means that only people who have the same Amazon account as me will be able to drop in on my Echo Show.
  • You can only drop in on devices that are online. This means that if my Echo Show is offline, no one will be able to drop in on it.
  • If a device is in Do Not Disturb mode, you will not be able to drop in on it. This means that if I have my Echo Show set to Do Not Disturb mode, no one will be able to drop in on it.
  • When you drop in on a device, the person on the other end will hear a chime and will have the option to accept or decline the call. This means that when someone drops in on my Echo Show, I will hear a chime and I will have the option to accept or decline the call.
  • If the person on the other end accepts the call, you will be able to talk to them and see them on your Echo Show screen. This means that if I accept a drop-in call, I will be able to talk to the person who dropped in and I will be able to see them on my Echo Show screen.
  • If the person on the other end declines the call, you will not be able to talk to them or see them. This means that if I decline a drop-in call, the person who dropped in will not be able to talk to me or see me.
