Unfortunately, there isn’t a built-in way to automatically show your Blink camera feed on your Echo Show. However, there are a couple of workarounds you can try, depending on what you want to achieve:
1. Use Routines
Motion detection: You can create a routine in the Alexa app that triggers when motion is detected by your Blink camera. The routine can then show the live feed on your Echo Show for a set duration.
Here’s how to set it up:
- Open the Alexa app and go to “Routines.”
- Tap the “+” button to create a new routine.
- Select “When this happens” and choose “Smart Home.”
- Select your Blink camera from the list of devices.
- Choose “Motion detected” as the trigger.
- Under “Then,” select “Control Devices.”
- Choose your Echo Show and select “Display Announcement.”
- Choose “Camera Feed” and select your Blink camera.
- Set the duration for how long you want the feed to be displayed.
- Save the routine.
Now, whenever your Blink camera detects motion, the live feed will automatically appear on your Echo Show for the chosen duration.
2. Use Alexa Guard
Scheduled monitoring: If you want your Blink camera to automatically show on your Echo Show at certain times, you can use Alexa Guard. This feature allows you to set up schedules for when you want your smart home devices to be more active, like when you’re away from home.
Here’s how to set it up:
- Open the Alexa app and go to “Settings.”
- Select “Guard.”
- Tap the “+” button to create a new Guard schedule.
- Give your schedule a name and set the days and times you want it to be active.
- Under “Actions,” select “Display Announcement.”
- Choose your Echo Show and select “Camera Feed.”
- Choose your Blink camera.
- Save the schedule.
Now, during the times you’ve set, your Blink camera feed will automatically show on your Echo Show.
3. Use IFTTT
More customization: If you want more customization options, you can use IFTTT (If This Then That) to create applets that trigger the Echo Show to display the Blink camera feed based on various events.
For example, you could create an applet that shows the camera feed when someone rings your doorbell, when a specific word is said, or when you arrive home from work.
Note: Keep in mind that these workarounds may not be perfect and may have some limitations. For instance, showing the camera feed continuously can drain your Echo Show’s battery. Additionally, some features may require a Blink subscription.
