Fitbit is all sports and tracks every step you take.
But only knowing the steps won’t make complete sense for you if you don’t know the miles.
How do you convert those steps into miles?
Let’s find out.
How Many Miles Are 18000 Steps On A Fitbit?
18000 steps on a Fitbit is approximately 7.5 miles. This is not an exact valuation but is based on calculation and assumption.
You might be wondering how I came up with this number. Well, you will clearly understand it when I show the calculation.
Here’s a step-by-step process to convert the step counts into miles.
Step 1: Check Your Step Count
Firstly, check your step counts from your Fitbit app. You can take your daily steps count or the weekly and monthly count.
Step 2: Measure Your Stride Length
Then find or measure your stride length in feet and write it down. You can do it yourself with the help of a scale.
Step 3: Calculate Total Distance
Now, multiply the step count by your stride length. You’ll get the total distance covered in feet. This is the distance you covered with your step counts.
Step 4: Convert Steps Into Miles
Finally, divide the total distance by 5280 since 1 mile equals 5280 feet. It will give you the miles you have actually walked or run with your Fitbit on.
Now that you know how to convert step counts to miles, let’s focus on the calculation.
Let’s say you have 18,000 step counts. The average stride length is 2.2 feet for humans.
So, 18000 x 2.2 feet = 39,600 feet.
Now, 39,600/ 5280 = 7.5 miles.
So, 18000 steps are equal to 7.5 miles.
Final Thoughts
While it’s an accepted calculation, the actual number will vary based on height, stride length, and many other factors.
